Does any of my data go to the cloud?
No. Ledgernomiks makes zero outbound network calls and collects zero telemetry. Everything — your accounts, transactions, and reports — lives in a single local database file on your own computer.
Do I need to know accounting to use this?
No prior bookkeeping experience is required to get started — the getting-started flow walks you through opening balances and day-to-day entry. That said, it's built on real double-entry principles, so if you do know accounting, nothing here will feel dumbed down.
What do I need on my computer to run it?
A free Python install and a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox). Ledgernomiks runs as a small local web server on your machine — nothing is installed system-wide, and nothing requires admin rights.
Can I use it from my phone?
Yes, once phone access is turned on. Ledgernomiks becomes reachable from any device on the same home WiFi network as your computer — still entirely local, never over the open internet.
What happens if I forget my PIN?
You get a one-time recovery code the moment you enable a PIN — save that, and you can reset it yourself in seconds. If that's lost too, a local emergency-reset script (included with the download) clears the PIN without touching any of your financial data.
Can I import my existing bank history?
Yes — CSV, OFX, and QFX formats are supported, with duplicate detection and a local classifier that gets better the more you use it. Importing history is optional, though; most people just start with today's balance and move forward.
What computers/operating systems does it support?
Anywhere Python and a browser can run — Windows, macOS, and Linux are all supported.
How do I know when there's a new version?
